1) Google Sites : This platform is managed by Google as the name suggests and is a good platform to create a website.

It is a very user-friendly and simple platform with simple drag and drop tools. 

For creating a website through Google sites just go to the homepage. First you need to login through your Google account or sign-up for a new account.

After logging in you can choose an appropriate template for your website or choose a blank template as well. Once you choose a template, you will be redirected to the online editing mode. Here you can start creating your website with the online tools. There are many tools available on the left side of the page to add text, pictures, html code, embed YouTube videos, widgets, social media links, calender, change layout, add buttons etc. 

Once your website is ready you can click on Publish button on the top to get your website live.

The domain name that you get here is free but is a subdomain. However if you wish, you can redirect a custom domain like .com, .in, .edu, .net etc to this subdomain.

So if you are looking for a simple and easy to understand online website builder, then you can go with Google sites. 

2) Wix : Wix is a good and robust platform for developers looking for more advanced features and tools. 

You can sign up and start creating your website on this platform for free. There are many free and professional templates for creating a website. Also you get more number of tools for making a stunning website.

However Wix also offers premium plans through which you can remove Wix branding and ads from the website. Moreover you also get a free custom domain name, SEO, analytics data and more bandwidth after upgrading to a premium plan.

But if you do not want to spend money then you can continue with the Free plan as well. In this you would get a free Wix subdomain. 

Wiz also offers users to setup their own e-commerce website and sell their products online. So this is a powerful platform if you want to create a website by your own.

3) WordPress : WordPress is one of the best platforms to create a website. There are two WordPress websites on the internet. The first one is WordPress.com and the second one is WordPress.org website.

So don't get confused. There is a difference in both the websites. Wordpress.com is an online website builder, where you can create a website using drag and drop tools. You can create a totally free website on this platform. However it offers a few premium plans to its users at a reasonable cost. Upon upgrading to a premium plan you can avail additional features and tools for making your website more professional.

WordPress.org is one of the best platforms for creating a professional blog or website. You can get the free WordPress application from this website. But you need to buy a domain name and hosting from somewhere to get started. There are many hosting providers which offers WordPress installation in just a click. Also you can get a free domain name for a year on purchasing a hosting plan from some websites. 

So, WordPress is great and most powerful platform for creating a website. WordPress offers thousands of plugins to make your website professional and SEO friendly. You also get a plenty of attractive and professional templates in WordPress platform. The most important advantage with WordPress is that you have a full ownership of your website. 

So in the long run WordPress has proven that it is worth spending some amount of money to build a website on this platform.
